Anyone is welcome to post their improvised music to this site. Got a nice recording you don't know what to do with? If it features you and at least one other person improvising, it's good for us.
- No rehearsed material
-
It may be brilliant... but if it's that good, make money out of it, somewhere else!
- No sequenced or pre-recorded material
-
Do what you like to the mix and the production. Fade in, fade out, edit sections, loop sections... whatever you want. So long as you all played the material in the original take, and you were improvising.
- Forget the title
-
When you post here, the file is renamed to a timestamp. One of the fun quirks of this site (if I don't say so myself, sure as hell nobody else will) is that other people then suggest a title for the track. Since this is spontaneous music, rather than a song you've been working hard on, you should be OK with this! After uploading, you can suggest a title too, or as many titles as you like. We'll all vote.
- Don't worry about the style
-
People like all sorts of music. They just might not realise it yet.
- Don't worry about the audio quality
-
We'd rather you posted a rough recording than nothing at all. Obviously, something sounding nice will work in your favour, but it really doesn't matter. Upload a voicemail if you want. Fuck it, record the whole thing onto cassette... yeeaaah! So long as it's improvised music. Oh, but bear in mind...
- Someone should want to listen to it
-
If you wouldn't even play it to your best mate, it's not going to go down very well here either. In the name of moderation, the webmaster reserves the right to remove audio that is downright crap, without having to explain why.
- Keep it relatively short and small
-
Max file size is 10MB, which gets you approx ten minutes of mp3.
- How to remove a file you've uploaded
-
When you upload a file, we send you a confirmation email. Keep this, because it contains a URL that lets you remove the audio file later on. We anticipate audio files have a shelf life of around 3 months, after which we'll remove them to make way for new stuff, keeping the list relatively current and saving server space.
